Management of Gallstone Disease before Renal Transplantation
M. Fahr, A.-E. Lison

The appropriate treatment of gallstone disease in patients undergoing renal transplantation is discussed controversially. Screening for gallstones and subsequent prophylactic cholecystectomy has been recommended by some authors for kidney or heart transplant candidates. In the following two case-reports we will see the importance of a sorrowful examination of renal transplant candidates. We will report of a first patient with cholecystitis, who developed a huge enlargement of the biliary tract after renal transplantation. A second patient underwent prophylactic cholecystectomy before renal transplantation.
