Abstract:
The Ross procedure is an important advance in the treatment of
aortic valve disease in neonates and infants with congenital
aortic stenosis or regurgitation and in other young patients with
aortic valve dysfunction. It is the only available replacement
for the aortic valve which has growth potential and there is
ample evidence that the pulmonary autograft holds up well in the
systemic circulation. Combined with a Konno ventriculoplasty, the
Ross procedure is a useful approach to the management of complex
subaortic stenosis in young or old patients.
