Diagnosis of Rejection in Biopsy Material of Cardiac Allografts
Histopathology and Immunohistology

The diagnosis of rejection in biopsy material still remains - despite a considerable variety of recently developed so-called "non-invasive" methods - the Golden Standard in the diagnostics of rejection in the heart allograft. In this book, the authors present a critical confrontation of the results of advanced immunohistological methods and classical histopathology, furnishing convincing evidence of the advantages of histopathological analysis. As an issue of evaluation of an extensive biopsy material as well as of several years of clinical validisation at several university transplant centers, they give a precise definition of the essential histopathological features not only of the various grades of acute rejection, but also of the different forms of chronic rejection as well as further clinically important special forms of rejection in the so-called "Inter-University Classification".
